01.17.15: A Benefit For Don Hill @ The Wilson Abbey

My current place of employment is run by the folks at Jesus People USA who live in community on Wilson Avenue in Chicago. These same people brought the festival I loved & spent 9 summers attending - Cornerstone Festival. Across the street from the community house is a coffee shop called Everybody's Coffee & venue space called Wilson Abbey.

On Saturday, January 17th, 2015 there was a show at Wilson Abbey put on by some folks from the electronic music scene, primarily industrial, noise, & drone styles for a guy who is part of JPUSA as well as an artist in their scene. As an artist he is known as Millipede & as a man he is known as Don Hill. I have had a few brief encounters with him…enough to know he is a kind & loving man who unfortunately developed a fatal cancer. It seems this night was a success in many ways & financial support was raised for Don beyond expectation. It was RAD to see this.

Though Don did not perform, many friends of his did so I put together this playlist of the artist including a clip from a couple of the guys who helped organize the event.

Artists in the playlist include Candle Nine, Aphorism, Polyfuse, Noise Theorem, PBK, mindfluxfuneral, & Chicago Drone Ensemble.

Filmed using a Sony HD Bloggie. Edited using Final Cut Pro on a Mac Mini. Filmed & edited by Joel A. Swanson

Joel - do you happen to have video of the whole show? I have been looking for any footage from the show and found this and remember that you had video taped some/(all?) of it. It would be magical if you did.

At least one a year I spend time remembering Don and this show - and your playlist helps. Thank you.
