My 'Burgh Life & Shows - November 2013

Footage includes Elphie & I taking a trip to Detroit, MI, a dinner date of spaghetti w/ venison, Lisa visiting Pittsburgh & going to Oakland, The Strip District, Wholey's Fish Market, Kuhn's, the Toonseum, Schmidt's Olde World Deli, & The Beehive, a massage, Elphie leaving me in Cleveland, squirrel hunting, The Penguins beating the Maple Leafs 6-5 in a shootout, & Thanksgiving.

Soundtrack includes "We Gotta Make It" by The Trigger Code & "Melted Vinyl" by Furthermore...

November started out for Elphie & I in Michigan with a couple Leper shows. It was good to hang with them for a few days. Desiring Dead Flesh was on one of the shows as well so I captured some footage of that:

The 90s came back for a night in Pittsburgh with Five Iron Frenzy touring with Reel Big Fish:

I survived quite the early winter storm to catch The Rose Hill on my way back from hunting in Warren. I was able to capture their new song, Offender. It turns out that it happens to be the last time I saw The Rose Hill as this lineup as member changes have occurred in the months since then.

Revolution Radio @ The Rooke Wedding (10.05.13)

This was the first set by Revolution Radio in quite a while. It was good to see the guys playing again at this wedding of two RAD folks!

Unified Underground 2013

Unified Underground is always a great time. This year was extra special with Elphie being there. It's always good to hang with this community & see some cool shows too!

October 17th, 2013

I planned to go to see Mike Mains & The Branches…thankfully I still did get to see them and The Orphan, The Poet but ran very late due to an unreasonable work schedule…an unfortunate trend in my current employment.

I haven't had the chance to see He Is Legend in several years. This day was the first day of small game hunting in Pennsylvania. After having dinner with my parents I headed back home to Pittsburgh and on to see this show. I arrived very late & just as He Is Legend was taking the stage.

October 20th, 2013

The Chariot farewell tour came through the Pittsburgh area so naturally I went. I arrived to this one in time to see the touring bands. I didn't get off work in time to get there for the beginning of the show (again) so I missed out on Pittsburgh area metal core stuff (i believe).

There was a rally for Adjunct Professors. My friend, Derek, played a The Homeless Gospel Choir set with a new tune.

A Step Toward Building Something Beautiful:  10.31.13

Elphie & I met during GothiCon 2011 in Cincinnati and developed a friendship mostly online due to the distance between us. I moved to Pittsburgh in November 2012 & the day that I moved, Elphie contacted me about meeting up while she travelled during the Christmas holiday. At first it didn't look like that would happen but later plans were made though in the end it still did not happen. We continued our online talking. I felt an interest in her but did not speak of it clearly due to circumstances that caused her to believe it best to not get involved in a relationship. She eventually stated her interest in me and I then responded with confirmation of interest. Elphie visited in Pittsburgh around my birthday then we went to some music festivals and she spent a while in Pittsburgh through the summer. Though I thought it may be changing at times, our status remained friends who really liked each other. This became somewhat frustrating over time but I continued to hold onto the hope that we could be something really good. On Halloween, Elphie told me there was surprise waiting when I got home from work. It was her willingness to commit to a relationship. i was very happy at this moment. She captured a lot of the footage in this one. I added a clip with background information

Soundtrack includes "Reflections - music video version" by Travelouge & "Beat Your Heart Out" by The Distillers

After this wonderful moment, Elphie & I went to a show at a place run by a friend called The Den Season. We listened to Derek tell some stories at this event.

Unified Underground 2013

Unified Underground changed location to Louisville, KY for 2013. It was a good change. There was an affordable hotel available to us and the facilities seemed more suited for this kind of gathering. The theme was "The Heart." As always, it was good to spend time with friends I don't see as often as I would like and hear some great music. This year had the added bonus of Elphie coming out with Leper to Unified Underground. Linked below is the playlist of video clips from the conference:

Revolution Radio Plays The Rooke Wedding (10.05.13)

My housemate & friend, Dylan, asked if he could borrow the sound equipment I brought with me in my move to Pittsburgh. He was getting married and a band he was once in would be playing the reception. I offered to also help run the sound for this event & set up the system.

The band was Revolution Radio. I met Dylan through booking this band and his other band, The Last Hope, as they toured to Cornerstone while I worked at Covenant in Cincinnati.

Revolution Radio played a fun set for the reception. It was good to see the guys playing again:
