Summer Music Festival Footage - Part 2: The Hog Roast @ Audiofeed

On July 4th we arrived at Audiofeed to see a lot of the Cornerstone family! After setting up camp and getting some food at the Hog Roast we listened to some folks speaking and some music to unofficially kick off the festival. Here are the clips from that day:

Dougle McMysteron

Tobin Bawinkel

Listener

Noah James

Glenn Kaiser

There is a lot more to come. There will be a youtube playlist of the Audiofeed footage as well.

Summer Music Festival Footage - Part 1: Kingdom Come Festival

I found out about Kingdom Come Festival which was held in Kokomo, Indiana by my friends in Corpus Christi. With the demise of Cornerstone I figured I'd give it a shot believing some sort of Cornerstone type event would be held during the following week - the traditional Cornerstone week. Later I found that other friends, Grave Robber would be playing. Unfortunately Corpus Christi was unable to play but were replaced by Take The Name. Though I didn't plan to attend the entire festival, I did want to see these two bands. They played on different days so that meant figuring out a sleeping arrangement since this was not a camping festival.

This ended up being my official Summer Festival kick off (though a couple weeks prior there was a small one day event called Solid Rock & Metal Fest in Pennsylvania that I attended & filmed - it's in a previous post). I took some much needed time away from work and travelled for about two weeks starting in the Cincinnati area where I caught a show (footage also posted previously) and spent time with friends - one of which travelled to the rest of the festivals with me.

We arrived on Friday night at the festival in Kokomo, Indiana. We arrived just before Children 18:3 played and after that was Grave Robber:

We ended up staying at a church (I can't for the life of me remember it's name nor the name of the youth pastor that worked this out but Thank you!)

Saturday morning we were fed by those same gracious people at another church and made our way back to the park where this festival took place. It rained...and rained...and rained. I started thinking about leaving without watching Take The Name but there as a bit of a break in the rain so we decided to give it a go and were able to not get too soaked while watching two bands: Silver From The Flames & Take The Name. Silver From The Flames are ranging in ages from 8-15 years old. They are all siblings. It was pretty amazing to see such young kids play as good of a set as they did. Take The Name was as good as i remembered so I was glad to stick around.

After that was the trip to Chicago & onto Audiofeed Festival. The real adventure I suppose began as we left...

06.26.13 @ The Thompson House - First Stop Of The RocknRoll Vacation

As I travelled west for some Music Festivals and to see a favorite person in my world, I made a stop in the Cincinnati area for a couple of days. I arrived in time to catch a show at The Thompson House in Newport, KY featuring some bands with members who I am friends with. I unfortunately was a bit late so I did miss one group of friends but caught the end of the set of The Colour Of Amber. I missed the opportunity to get any video footage though. The rest of the bands I did film though and they are posted below.

This was the first time I've been to the Thompson House since the change in name & management. I'm not sure what I think of it now. I suppose it doesn't matter too much since I've moved on to Pittsburgh...

The next video I will likely complete & post will be from life in June leading up to this trip. My hope is I have the time over the next couple of days to edit & process it...life seems to be lacking a whole lot going on to get in the way.

RocknRoll Vacation...

After that last video went up about 2 weeks ago, I have been Midwest American traveling on what I called a RocknRoll vacation. Though it didn't all go as planned, overall this has been a great break from life.

I write this sitting at work on my first night back. The shift started just over an hour after I got back into town. Lots of video will be posted as soon as I can get to it. There are a few things I need to take care of in the real world which will delay the process some. What is to come includes footage from the new music festival known as Audiofeed. This was a real good time and expect the next one to be even better. It is the best thing for the former Cornerstone crowd. Hopefully with a little more time the word will spread for the next festival and pull in a few more folks. It was good as it was though. Also included is some clips from another fest called Kingdom Come, a trip to Chicago, and a show in Cincinnati.

Again, all this as well as "Life" clips will be posted very soon.

Also, thanks to all for the new "likes" over at the facebook page! Thanks also to Elphie for her help in spreading the word and her part in the coming videos!

Minimizing The Distance...

http://youtu.be/lSbytr7hwwk

Using part of the song, Ready To Blow by KMFDM, this is a conceptual piece based of conversations about ways two people could be able to see each other more. It may be just a dream but here's what it could look like.

Partially filmed using an iPhone 4 and some footage compiled from other videos found on youtube. Edited using Final Cut Pro on a Mac Mini.

06.15.13 & 06.16.13 RocknRoll Weekend w/ mewithoutYou, Shone, & Leagues

This was the third year in a row that a great show happened to fall on Father's Day and so I attended that show. Unlike the previous two years, this show did not feature Listener. Instead it featured mewithoutYou. For a long time now I've felt that mewithoutYou was my favorite touring band to see live. Again, they put on a rad show but surprisingly played a lot more new stuff than I expected including one that didn't make it onto the new album.

Opening for mewithoutYou was a band called Shone. There was this internet buzz going on earlier this year about "Heat Thing." It turns out that this was the title of Shone's album and those guys were somehow behind the hype. Thankfully, it wasn't all just hype and they put on a great performance as well.

Prior to the show was a potluck and the chance for folks to join Aaron Weiss (lead vocals of mewithoutYou if ya for some reason didn't know) in singing Sacred Harp songs. I thought I may have been too late to see that but a friend tipped me off it was still going on so I went back behind the venue to check it out and caught a little bit on video.

On Saturday, I visited Pittsburgh's 3 River's Arts Festival. There was one band on the bill that I recoznized so I checked them out. They are called Leagues. I seem to remember them being played on RadioU. As I arrived the song I had heard was being played. I captured the next one on film.

Besides all the good live music, I got to see a number of friends. That made the hours on the road worth it!
