Elphie and I attended the Saturday portion of the 2026 Bloodline Fest at The Well in South Bend, Indiana. We have enjoyed this event and supporting our friends who are involved with The Well as well as seeing a few bands we know and many we don't know who are invited out to play this event.
Because I haven't yet cleared all the footage off my phone from our Skandinavia trip, I decided I would utilize my Canon Rebel T6s with an Audio-Technica AT-8024 microphone, The microphone sustained damage at the end of Audiofeed due to Elphie having an accident with it where the base broke again. I noticed after again gluing it back together that I was not getting a stereo signal through the microphone anymore so I anticipated that being an issue with these recordings. I had also forgotten to bring rubber bands to help hold the base onto the camera due to my attempts to fix it causing the tightening wheel to be permanently glued in place. So, while I was setting the camera up, I checked the audio and still noted the signal was mono rather than stereo but when I moved the input in the jack a certain way, it seemed to then give a stereo signal. I tried to keep the input sitting in that way to keep the stereo signal for the audio capture. I think I was successful in that, however, later sets do have some audio a bit blown out. Perhaps in part due to the louder bands, though I had it set to compress the audio, or during the East Moon set, my having pressed against the input in the jack with my thumb having had some sort of an effect. I did have a stereo signal though and for that I was happy. I believe this is likely to be one of the last times I utilize this microphone as I intend on replacing it at least before Audiofeed in hopes to have better audio results and the ability to anchor it properly to the camera without needing to rig it up with rubber bands.
On our way, we made a detour to stop at the Albanese Confectionary where I got a bag of gummy goof-ups and Elphie wanted to check out the Halloween selection. She was a bit disappointed in it, though the decor was cool. We also made a short stop in Michigan City at the Meijer to pick up some vegetables to contribute to the shared foods table.
We missed the Friday night sessions of Bloodline due, in part, to work. I didn't feel it was probably for the best, having just returned from a long absence while in Europe, to miss a day of work. When we arrived, Visitor Pass was finishing up and I was unable to get my camera set up and ready to capture any footage.
Sun Baron was the first act I was able to see playing in the basement area. I captured a tune and it was good to see Justin playing as always. Sun Baron was not originally scheduled so it was also a nice surprise.
Upstairs in the warehouse area, Small Steps played next. They are in the pop punk vein from Louisville, Kentucky. I saw the last year and they were fun to watch again.
Kaeli Koenig played next in the basement. Her set was all covers (including one from mewithoutYou which I did not capture).
Knee Deep In The Dead was next in the warehouse. They remarked about being used to playing late night sets so doing early afternoon was a bit strange.
Rusty Vining was next in the basement. He had one friend on stage so I guess it was Rusty Vining and Friend this time.
Chris Bernstorf was in the warehouse and I captured one of his newer released poems about his wife, Amanda.
The Mannequins were next in the basement. This was a bit of a louder set for the basement (so far) and I remembered them from last year.
Elda Lane was next in the warehouse. They had switched from an earlier slot in the basement to this one. It was a good set.
Families played in the basement without microphones in the middle-ish of the room to one side. It made for a darker video capture. It had been a few years since I saw them play and it was nice to hear them again.
Lowe Cellar came from Seattle to play Bloodline. They were in the warehouse and brought another mewithoutYou cover. I did not capture that one either. I enjoyed their sound. This was the last set in the warehouse before dinner.
The final act to play in the basement before dinner break was East Moon from Chicago. I had not seen or heard of them before but they utilized a keytar. It was a fun set. While recording it, I was fairly close to the speakers. I also realized toward the end of my capturing the footage I did that I had my thumb pressing against the microphone in the jack. The audio became very blown out when I think that occurred and I'm not sure if that had an effect on the audio for the rest of the night. I did notice it was considerably more blown out...but it might have also been the rest of the acts were fairly loud as well.
Bloodline provided tacos again for dinner. I went to the car to grab my Trolli variant Mountain Dew of Mango and Pineapple flavor. It had a decent taste. The tacos were great again!
Lune: The Band kicked off the evening sets in the basement. It was my first time to check them out. I was able to see probably half the set as I was finishing eating my tacos as they were getting started. I enjoyed the set.
Primer and Grayscale was the first in the warehouse for the evening sets. I feel like that was the same slot they were given last year as well. I guess that makes them consistent. Once again, I enjoyed what I heard from them.
Pocketboy Solid was in the basement. I recognized them as Joe Baughman and the Righteous Few from Audiofeed a few years back. It seemed to be a similar sound as well as people. They were very bright. The audio is a bit blown out as I was fairly close to the speaker. I probably should have adjusted the audio settings.
Jagalchi was next on the warehouse giving a little double duty for one of their guys who added horns to the Pocketboy Solid set. I had captured the same song I did at Audiofeed so I decided to capture the next song as well and that is what is available here.
Maewyn played in the basement. It was my first time to check them out and I am glad to have been able to see and hear them. I enjoyed their set.
Oyarsa played nice and loud next in the warehouse. I captured the first sone of the set.
Split Jaw from Chicago closed out the basement sets for the night. I had not heard them before. It was a good set.
Dad Jokes was the headliner of Saturday night at Bloodline. I decided that I would capture the entire set. I also included Jay talking at the end of the night.
We drove home shortly after the show ended, stopping at Meijer in Michigan City again to utilize a charger and get some groceries.
It was a fun time overall. We enjoyed our visit to The Well and South Bend and another year of Bloodline Fest. We will see most of everyone back at Audiofeed in the summer of 2027 and likely back for this in the fall as well.
