The footage in this project begins after returning home from Audiofeed 2026 which one can check out here if they wish. A few weeks later, I flew out to California for J.C.H.C. Fest 2026 which has its own page and video project. I only caught one local show outside of that. It was an oi punk show at Beat Kitchen with Fuerza Bruta and a bunch of other good bands. It was fun. We had the Ollie Mob BBQ in August. The Chicago Air and Water show happened, there was the annual Lollapalooza challenge and slow commute along with more weather phenomenons and Elphie's first ever injury while we mini-golfed at Haunted Trails. After the summer project ends, we left for Skandinavia for a month and that will of course be its own project and have a page to document the trip.

On my commute home on Wednesday July 8th, 2026, there was once again a demonstration over Lake Shore Drive. This time it read "Make Corruption Illegal Again." While out to get groceries on Saturday July 11th, 2026, there was anarchy at 47th and Damen with someone using the lane for oncoming traffic to turn rather than the proper turning lane. There was CHAOS!

On my commutes to and from work on Thursday July 16th, 2026, the smoke from Canadian wildfires was thick over Chicago. It made me wonder a bit about my flight to California the next evening, however, everything looked good until a few hours before that flight. Anyway, I decided to utilize my CrossTour CR-900 to document the smoky drives that day.

I went to J.C.H.C. Fest in Ventura, California. I left on Friday July 17th, 2026 and got back to Chicago on Sunday July 18th, 2026. You can read about that here.

On Thursday July 23rd, 2026, I decided to catch an oi punk show at the Beat Kitchen. Fuerza Bruta was playing the show headlined by Mess from Mexico. It was apparently their first time in Chicago. Also on the bill were Mock Execution of Chicago, The Stress and Venenö from New York, and Najava from the Chicago area. It was a fun night. I saw Carlos Cisneros as well and it was good to see him and chat a bit.

On Friday July 24th, 2026, we decided to sit across the river from The Salt Shed as Jake White played a show. We could hear just fine from over there even if there wasn't much to see. We could see the screens somewhat. It was enjoyable. On Saturday July 25th, 2026 we decided to go to Haunted Trails with the Shaws and Josiah as he was in town. It was mostly fun, however, Elphie twisted her ankle pretty bad. It was her first time experiencing an injury and she wasn't sure how to handle it. She did get up and we continued the game and for the next month, she spent time elevating it, icing it, and trying to heal before our trip. After the mini-golf, Josiah and I decided to get on the go-carts. He was a bit aggressive and ended up in an accident. I was in one of the last cars and had no chance to move up in the race, however encountering his accident and watching the video playback was funny! We hit Andy's for frozen custard afterwards as should be done.
After work on Monday July 27th, 2026, I encountered a flood outside the Truman College parking garage. I was able to drive out of it but the water was pretty significant. Around mid day on Thursday July 30th, 2026, I was out with my co-worker Darrell to try to assist a client with his possessions and we passed by Lollapalooza. I took the opportunity to capture the signs of the annual challenge. My commute home was its own challenge both this day and the next on Friday July 31st, 2026 as traffic navigating by Lollapalooza tends to get backed up. I kept the audio in case any cool music could be captured while driving by.
On Sunday August 2nd, 2026, we went to Goodman Theatre for Iceboy! and seeing Nick Offerman on stage with his wife Megan Mullally. It was very good! It was a nicely set up theatre and I doubt there was a bad seat anywhere. What we didn't consider was that we'd be encountering the Lollapalooza aftermath waiting on transit. On my morning commute on Thursday August 6th, 2026, it appeared that one of the Chicago shows was filming at the end of the block where I live. I captured footage as I passed through the set I suppose. On Friday August 7th, 2026 another demonstration over Lake Shore Drive this time read "Fund Edu Not War." On Saturday August 8th, 2026, the annual Ollie Mob BBQ occurred. This year, Kyle ran a Bingo! game for old out of print merch and collectibles. We woke on Sunday August 9th, 2026 to a load bang and the sound of something crashing to the ground outside our windows and against the house. I looked to find rubble. Elphie went outside an found it to be significant along with the hose being punctured. It turned out to be the neighbors house was struck by lightning and the chimney blew up. We went to PMA later that afternoon and then Culver's.
On Sunday August 16th, 2026, I got up to go see the Chicago Air and Water Show. The weather cooperated for the most part for everything to go almost as scheduled. Saturdays event had delays and cancelations. I am glad I went on Sunday. I just wish I had decided to try to park a bit closer, ha! On Thursday August 20th, 2026, a small car was either in a wreck or disabled and caused a big traffic jam. On Friday August 21st, 2026, found yet another demonstration over Lake Shore Drive this time stating that "Trump Fails Troops." On Tuesday August 25th, 2026, I captured a rainbow in Buckingham Fountain. On Thursday August 27th, 2026, I tried capturing the lunar eclipse but with the cloud cover, it was a struggle. On Friday August 28th, 2026, I tried the Dirty Mountain Dew. It was definitely a cream soda. I'm not a big fan of cream sodas. This, however, had a fruity marshmallow taste. It wasn't my favorite Mountain Dew variant but it was ok. On Monday August 31st, 2026 I captured a rainbow on my commute home.
